Gorden Wagener

Gorden Wagener has led the worldwide design unit of Mercedes-Benz and all its brands since 2008. As Chief Design Officer of the company since 2016 his goal for the brands of the Mercedes-Benz Group is to build the most desirable cars in the world. Wagener approaches this ambition with his design philosophy of “Sensual Purity,” which defines the specific luxury of the different brands.

He started his journey in the company in 1997 as a transportation designer at Mercedes-Benz Design. He continued to work as a director of exterior and interior Styling and as a director of Mercedes-Benz advanced Design of North America. In 2007, he became Vice President of the DaimlerChrysler Research, Engineering and Design of North America.

After studying Industrial Design at the University of Essen from 1990 to 1993, he specialized his studies in Transportation Design at The Royal College of Art in London.
